The screw spike is also known as a rail screw. As one of the Rail spikes, this is a robust metal screw designed specifically to secure rail fasteners. Typically crafted from high-grade NO.3 steel, the screw spike features a uniquely threaded nail rod surface, hence the term 'screw spike.' It boasts a pull-out resistance that is 0.5 to 1.0 times stronger than that of a common rail spike, though it provides 50% less thrust resistance. While it poses a challenge in terms of disassembly and gauge adjustment, it remains a preferred choice for railway turnouts.
