Compared to standard rail spikes, the screw spike offers a pull-out resistance that is 0.5 to 1.0 times greater. However, its thrust resistance is reduced by 50%. Due to its complex disassembly and assembly process, adjustments to the rail gauge are challenging, making it an ideal choice primarily for use in railway turnouts.
